Common Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella)
The Common Clothes Moth lives indoors only, common worldwide with the exception of tropical climates. In modern times the species has declined in Britain, the reason is thought to be the way we dress our homes, more synthetic fabrics and less natural products. The common clothes moth contrary to its name can be found in feather products, furs and fertilisers.
Where there are natural fibres, dark undisturbed areas is where you will find this moth. It is important that areas are vacuumed regularly, Residual sprays and pheromone traps are also tools that can be used, however it is advised that natural fabric damage risks are assessed before any liquid treatments are applied.
