1. Policy Statement
Rattraxs Pest Control is committed to delivering pest control services in a manner that protects the environment, complies with relevant legislation, and supports sustainable pest management practices.
As a responsible pest control operator in England, I aim to minimise any adverse environmental impacts arising from My work and promote best practice in line with the latest industry guidance.
2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
I comply with all applicable environmental laws and codes of practice, including but not limited to:
• Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
• Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR) 1986
• Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) No 528/2012, as retained in UK law
• The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
• Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005
• Environmental Protection Act 1990
• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002
Additionally, I adhere to guidance and stewardship schemes from:
• CRRU UK (Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use) Code of Best Practice
• DEFRA policy on Integrated Pest Management and wildlife protection
• HSE requirements for the use of biocides and safe working practices
3. Environmental Objectives
“I am Committed to protecting the environment by using targeted treatments, supporting biodiversity and where ever possible I aim to provide a chemical free method of control”
• Reduce the use of chemical pesticides where possible through Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• Select the least harmful control methods suitable for each pest issue. Eco – Conscious pest solutions, safer for families, pets and the environment.
• Prevent pollution, chemical contamination, and harm to non-target species. Mindful of wildlife and pollinators.

• Manage rodenticides in line with CRRU guidelines, including appropriate risk assessments and documentation.
• Ensure safe storage, transport, and disposal of pest control products and equipment.
• Promote environmental awareness among staff and clients.
4. Integrated Pest Management
My service is rooted in IPM principles:
• Site inspection and monitoring
• Pest identification
• Proofing and habitat management
• Judicious chemical use when necessary
• Post-treatment monitoring and prevention advice
I use biocides and rodenticides only when necessary and ensure compliance with the CRRU UK Rodenticide Stewardship Regime.

5. Wildlife and Biodiversity Protection
I take all reasonable measures to protect:
• Non-target species such as birds, pets, and beneficial insects.
• Protected species and habitats under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
• Watercourses and sensitive sites from contamination.
6. Waste and Resource Management
• Minimise waste by efficient product use and packaging reduction.
• Dispose of hazardous waste in line with the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005.
• Maintain accurate records of pesticide use and disposal (as required by DEFRA and HSE).
7. Staff Training and Competence
I ensure I am:
• Are trained to Level 2 Award in Pest Management (RSPH/BPCA) or equivalent.
• Receive ongoing CPD and CRRU-compliant training.
• Understand and apply environmental protection measures on every job.
8. Communication and Review
This policy is:
• Communicated to clients on request.
• Reviewed annually or in response to changes in legislation or business operations.
